Rarely in life do you have the chance to make such a significant difference in the life a child. Late in the 1990's, the world became painfully aware of the abandoned children of Romania. Global Volunteers has since been working to meet the great needs of Tutova Hospital's Failure-to-Thrive Clinic outside Barlad, Romania. This is where you can truly ensure that the babies and toddlers have a chance to lead normal lives.
New babies arrive several times a year, and you can help ensure that your sponsored child will quickly receive the extra care required to restore him or her to health. For only $42 per month (fully tax-deductible), you can become a critical link in a child's growth and development.
Here's How it Works: Each year, for the cost of just one small take-out pizza per week, or a monthly dinner for two, you can provide the direct support needed to sustain the child(ren) assigned to you. The babies and toddlers at the clinic have greatly benefitted from the infusion of love and caring provided by a steady stream of volunteers through Global Volunteers' service programs. We've seen remarkable changes in the childrens' behavior and abilities since 1999. But, their needs are ongoing.. and it takes many hands to raise a child. Funding from the Romanian government covers their basic needs, but isn't enough to assure their long-term health and development. Global Volunteers has filled in the gap... committing to provide additional food and clothing, but the shortfall is large.

When you complete your sponsorship application, we'll send you your child(ren)'s photo and profile, and keep you updated with yearly progress reports. In addition, you can request additional information from our hosts. We'll let you know about news and events at Tutova Hospital. And, by continuing to sponsor a child each year, you can witness their growth and development, and the changes in the host community.
