Global Volunteers, a not-for-profit, nonsectarian, United States of America corporation, was founded in 1984 to help promote world peace and racial reconcilation through the mutual international understanding and respect accomplished by engaging short-term volunteers on genuine community development projects. Global Volunteers is not associated with any religious organization or government agency. As a long-time leader in the short-term volunteer development assistance arena, Global Volunteers has special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, and works in partnership with local leaders and NGOs in more than 100 host communities worldwide.

A non-profit organization or community may invite Global Volunteers to establish a partnership for the purpose described in the partnership criteria document. While Global Volunteers cannot accept all invitations we receive, we will respond to all inquiries and/or invitations. An exploratory trip will be scheduled for all accepted invitations. Once a formal partnership is established, Global Volunteers will assemble volunteer teams within six to nine months. Program evaluations are conducted annually to ensure the ongoing value of the volunteer work.
