Brazil: Food and Lodging
What type of lodging is provided?

The volunteers stay in a tourist-class hotel, double occupancy, very near Salvador's historic center. The rooms all have private baths with hot-water showers, television, air conditioning, individual safes and a refrigerator. Couples may be assigned to rooms with one large bed. Single supplements may be purchased.

What are the laundry arrangements?
Laundry can be done on-site for a fee.

What is the electrical power?
The electrical current in Brazil is not standardized and can be either 110 or 220 volts. At your hotel, the electrical current in the bedrooms are 110V and in the bathrooms it is 220V.

What is the local cuisine?
Brazil Market VegetablesBrazilian cuisine is nutritious and varied. Fruits and vegetables are featured in many traditional dishes in creative and colorful ways. Chicken, beef and fish dishes are also plentiful. Most of your meals will be prepared at the hotel, with lunch at the work site. Some dinners will be at area restaurants.

Can special diets be accommodated?
Vegetarian options can be prepared as an alternative for most meals. Volunteers with strict diet requirements should bring foods to supplement their meals.

Will potable drinking water be provided?
Yes, bottled water is provided for every team member.
